Japanese supplier of automotive components Yazaki Corporation has held a long waited conference during which the mayor of the town of Dimitrovgrad, Ivo Dimov, and the Invest Bulgaria Executive Director, Stamen Yanev revealed details about their new factory in Dimitrovgrad.

Yazaki, which is one of the biggest suppliers of automotive components in the world, will invest BGN 45.5 million in building a new factory in Dimitrovgrad. This is the third factory of the Japanese company in Bulgaria, a part of their factories in Yambol and Sliven. The overall Yazaki’s investment so far amounts to EUR 60 million and it is concentrated in the two factories that employees near 5,000 people, said Mr Yanev.

Ivo Dimov, the mayor of Dimitrovgrad, reported the steps followed the first meeting with representatives from the company and thanked everybody involved. “This is an unique investment, there is the first one in the past 50 years and it will change the economic profile of the region”, noted the mayor.

InvestBulgaria Agency Director stressed that the activity and the perseverance of the local authorities have a key role in the project’s conclusion, which started in October 2013. Bulgaria won over Romania for the possibility to host the factory, pointed out Mr Yanev. In its factories here in Bulgaria the manufacturer produces automotive parts for Ford and Renault.

Building of the new factory will start within a month and its final completion for a period of one year. The new factory will be built on a terrene of 64,000 sq.m, as 30,000 sq.m. edifices. Near 3,000 people will be employed in the factory. A first group of 50 people started their education in a factory in the near town of Yambol. In October, will start to function a new “pilot factory” were near 250 people will be employed. The company will provide with free transport for its employees in a perimeter of 50 km.
